We invite cultural activists, artists, cultural makers, collectives, social-cultural platforms, cultural institutions, political agents together to envision Bolzano as the future city of music and culture for all. What mountains do we need to move in order for us to achieve this common goal? Together we will analyze inspiring International approaches and good practices of starting community platforms and enabling access to space from Berlin, Vienna, Amsterdam and beyond. We together extract workable approaches, tools and strategies that can infuse existing processes in the region happening now.

Break the Silos #3: Moving Mountains

Welcome to the year 2025 in South Tyrol: Culture, music, and creative industries are viewed as critical components of regional innovative growth. From the views of cultural creators, innovators, city authorities, youth workers, and underrepresented groups, an integral cultural vision has been implemented. 

Bolzano has become a city of music as a result of this participatory development, with plenty of space for the next generation of culture to bloom. In contrast to the present brain drain, the city is considered locally and globally as a place where culture is accessible to all and is attracting creative minds from all over the world.

We're still not there: To cross-pollinate the mycelium sustainably, some mountains must first be moved:
Nonetheless, hopeful collaborative seeds have been sowed, and the ground has shown to be fertile.
But how can we actually convert from monoculture to polyculture, and how do we sustainably grow cultural mycelium?How can we create an integrated vision that complements the existing cultural narrative?

We will extract key expertise and know-how for Bolzano and turn it into feasible concepts that can infuse what is presently happening in the region.
