Surround Sound Show by Umberto Echo
Bubbling, dancing, echoing: For two decades Dub Spencer & Trance Hill have been
thrilling audiences with their unique and virtuosic mix of dub reggae and electronic dance
music. Besides an unique sound aesthetic and their deep understanding and love for
groove, humor also plays an essential role. No matter if Italowestern, Spoken Word or
Goldies: The four Swiss manage, always tasteful, to take influences of any color and
create their own.
This constantly expanding sound cosmos is also reflected in their current and now twelfth
album “Imago Cells”, which is tellingly dedicated to metamorphosis. And this transforms
the dubby sound into a psychedelic-technoid creature (in keeping with the band's name):
half reggae, half trance, so to speak. Sometimes it feels like the early hours of the morning
in the oriental chai tent of a Goa party, then again the quartet takes us to a smoky
underground club somewhere in an abandoned industrial district.
Masi Stalder on bass, guitarist Markus Meier and Julian Dillier on drums provide the
organic component with their instruments, while Philipp Greter works diligently on the
synthesizers and effects. The sound is invariably danceable, and that they are among the
best dub performers in Europe has long been proven by their more than 400 gigs!
In fall 2025, the Swiss Band will release
their next work: “Synchronos” (Echo
Beach). It will be performed LIVE IN
SURROUND in selected clubs together with
the mixing desk master Umberto Echo.
In this ecstatic live performance, the
electronic dub tracks meet the
spectacular possibilities of surround
sound and Umberto Echo's dub mixing
skills, which are already legendary in
stereo.
All fans of danceable dub, trance and
organic techno music can expect an
absolutely extraordinary sound
experience that should not be missed.

Mit ihrem kraftvollen Crossover aus Reggae, Funk, Hip Hop, Dub, Dancehall, Rock und Ska und ihrer energievollen, innovativen Bühnenshow die ermutigt, friedlich für eine bessere Welt zu kämpfen, schafft die 10-köpfige Band aus Südtirol (IT) eine mitreißende Atmosphäre die man nicht verpassen sollte. Sie können auf hunderte von Shows in ganz Europa verweisen (Rototom Sunsplash (ES), Overjam (SL), Reeds (CH), AKF (DE), „1.Maggio“ in Rom (IT), ...), im Dezember 2022 auch außerhalb: bei der Anti-Corruption Conference in Washington DC (USA). Die „Shantis“ haben die Bühne mit Künstlern wie Max Romeo, The Gladiators, Israel Vibrations, Dub Fx, Julian Marley, Mellow Mood, Alborosie, Luciano, Shaggy, Inner Circle & vielen anderen geteilt, produzierten mit Künstlern wie GAUDI und kollaborierten mit HERBERT PIXNER („Box“ 2024) sowie dem malawischen Superstar FAITH MUSSA („Opportunity“ 2024) und bringen uns jetzt mit der neuen LIVE SHOW auch viele Songs des neuen und fünften Studio-Albums (2026), auf die Bühne!
